This year, Seamless partnered with the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery Midwinter Ball to encourage guests to make more thoughtful choices about what they wear to one of Australia’s biggest black tie events.
Held at Parliament House, Canberra on 1 July 2026, the Midwinter Ball brought together leaders from Australia’s media, political and corporate worlds for an evening of entertainment, networking and fundraising. With generous support from corporate partners, the Ball has raised more than $5 million for charity to date.
A guide to more thoughtful dressing
Ahead of this year’s Ball, Seamless worked with the organising committee to create and share a Circular Dressing Guide with more than 600 guests.
The guide offered practical ideas for dressing for a special occasion while keeping clothing in use for longer. It highlighted options including borrowing, renting or altering an outfit, buying pre-loved, rewearing pieces already in your wardrobe, and choosing clothing from responsible Seamless member brands.
The aim was to show that dressing for a black tie event doesn’t have to mean buying something new that will only be worn once.
Choosing to rewear
Seamless CEO Ainsley Simpson attended the Ball wearing a gown by Indigenous designer Maara Collective. She bought the gown in 2023 and has since worn it to several events.
Her choice reflects one of the simplest ways we can all contribute to a more circular clothing system: choose pieces you love, look after them and wear them again and again.
Creating a more circular clothing future will require change across the clothing industry, but the choices we make as individuals matter too.
