Code of Commitment

This Code defines the responsible, collaborative and inclusive practices that Seamless members and supporters follow.

The practices are respectful of the natural environment, the wellbeing of people and the organisations operating in and connected to the clothing value chain. Together with our purpose, values and strategic goals, the Code is a key part of the Seamless culture.

Complying with the Constitution, Agreement and the Code is a requirement of Seamless members and supporters.

Responsible practice
  • Support continuous improvement practices that maximise resource efficiency and reduce emissions; by optimising design and production, keeping products and materials at their highest value and conserving and regenerating nature.
  • Uphold the 9-R framework to advance the clothing sector toward a circular economy, including smarter production, extending the life of products and then finding useful application for recycled and recovered materials.
  • Recognise and reward employees and suppliers that adopt a continuous improvement approach to sustainability.
  • Refrain from making representations (to media, government, other) on behalf of Seamless.
  • Act in good faith and avoid any unlawful practices.
  • Promote awareness of and compliance with the Code to employees and their supply chain.
Inclusive practice
  • Treat all persons equally, equitably and fairly, regardless of gender, race, age, disability, sexual orientation or gender expression, body shape or size, ethnicity, religious affiliation, language, and/or marital or partnership status.
  • Do not engage in any form of bullying, sexual harassment or any form of physical or verbal abuse or any other form of intimidation.

Collaborative practice
  • Participate in the range of product stewardship activities to deliver benefits to the environment, help people chose, enjoy and recycle clothing and enable continuous improvement in businesses operating in and connected to the industry.
  • Proactively engage in pre-competitive knowledge sharing to advance Seamless strategic priorities.
  • Recognise that the development of tools, advocacy and other information is for the benefit of the Australian community and members of Seamless, over and above the interests of any individual or company.
  • Act in a way that ensures the promotion of an efficient, competitive and ethical value chain.

Members and supporters recognise that if the Board of Seamless (Clothing Stewardship Australia Ltd) determines that any principle of the Code have been breached, membership may be suspended or terminated by the Board at its discretion.

The Code is administered by the Seamless Chief Executive Officer and governed by the Board.
