Seamless Circular Changemakers, our first event at Melbourne Fashion Week, brought iconic high street labels, Sportsgirl and Sussan, conscious fashion business Elk, and First Nations brand Yanggurdi together to discuss collaborations that challenge business as usual.
Seamless CEO Ainsley Simpson hosted a panel discussion with Marnie Goding, Co-Founder and Creative Director at ELK; Claire Mellios, Quality and Sourcing Manager at Sussan and Sportsgirl and Cassie Fisher-Patterson, Founder and Designer at First Nations brand, Yanggurdi.
The discussion highlighted the practical efforts being made by brands across the sector, regardless of size or starting point – from circular clothing design, purposeful fabric selection and takeback schemes to renewing and reusing garments. It was an open and honest conversation about the challenges, opportunities, and real-world actions shaping circularity in the Australian clothing industry.
A highlight was the circularity runway which brought the stories from our panel to life. It showcased garments that embodied circular principles in action, from thoughtful design choices to reuse strategies that extend the life of each piece.
