At the Seamless panel discussion, ‘Circular by Design’, at Melbourne Fashion Festival 2026, Seamless CEO Ainsley Simpson called on the Australian Government to take two key actions to accelerate Australia’s transition to a circular clothing economy.
First, regulate mandatory clothing product stewardship at the Federal level, with State and Territory Government alignment. Second, use procurement policy to create stronger demand for circular products, including uniforms and recycled textile materials such as building and acoustic insulation, to help grow end markets for recycled clothing textiles.
