Minister for Environment and Water, The Hon. Tanya Plibersek announced the start of Seamless operations and reinforced her support for the initiative at an event hosted by Dentsu Creative in Sydney in June 2024.
The Minister was joined by Seamless CEO, Ainsley Simpson who shared the steps we’re taking to help drive the Australian clothing industry towards circularity by 2030. Also, Seamless General Manager Industry Transformation, Danielle Kent invited Seamless members ELK and M.J.Bale, along with Seamless supporters Thread Together and RMIT’s School of Fashion and Textiles, to share how they’re bringing clothing circularity to life with their inspiring and practical initiatives.
Many of the Seamless foundation members who played a crucial role in the past 12 months to design the scheme’s operational model attended including BIG W, Cotton On, David Jones, Rip Curl, R.M.Williams, the Sussan Group and THE ICONIC.
More than 60 responsible brands are now Seamless members, with new members announced including Berlei by Hanes Australasia, Bianca Spender, Carla Zampatti, Citizen Wolf, Jag by APG & Co, Oroton, Universal Store, XTM Performance and Zimmerman.
Finally, more than 80 Seamless supporters were also celebrated, including industry associations, academic institutions, not for profits, technology suppliers and reuse and recycling operators, as well as federal, state and local government agencies.
